Set against a theatrical backdrop crafted from recycled materials, Met(ric Tonne of Waste) Gala unfolds as a wild ‘make-it-and-model-it’ experience, where participants sift through piles of textile waste to craft couture looks with safety pins or sewing machines. The Fast Fashun artists rove in wearable art, and are on hand to help with participant’s creations. With the countdown on, runway debuts happen in real time as artist/emcee Tenfingerz weaves humour with urgency, pulling back the curtain on the fashion industry’s environmental impact.
